The Imperial Council building in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul is where the Divan (Divan-ı Hümâyûn), the Imperial Council, consisting of the Grand Vizier, viziers, and other leading officials of the Ottoman state, held meetings. It is situated in the northwestern corner of the second courtyard next to the Gate of Felicity. It was constructed by the architect-in-chief Alseddin, by the order of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, in the 15th century. Picture by: Giovanni Dall'Orto, May 27 2006.
